The MediChew® Technology
The patented MediChew® technology is the platform for our unique two layer medical gum tablets. One layer is a chewable or fast dissolving tablet layer, and the other layer is a gum tablet. The API can be placed in the chewable / fast dissolving layer to obtain fast release or in the gum layer.
The gum tablet layer has multiple purposes
• It makes it possible to tailor-make the release of the API from the tablet
• It adds new value to the tablet by giving a fresh and pleasant feeling in the mouth after the API has been dissolved, also counteracting dry mouth
• It is a highly acceptable formulation to children and adolescents
• It facilitates new, additional claims – a unique differentiation from competitors
The shape, colour, taste and size of the tablets are highly flexible.
Clinical studies demonstrate that APIs released from gum based tablets are absorbed as quickly as from fast dissolving tablets.
